Alex Franzius

She/Her || Registered Social Worker

About Me

Hello! My name is Alex (she/her). I support individuals and couples with a range of concerns like navigating ADHD, trauma, postpartum mental health, anxiety and more. I have worked in the mental health world for seven years and currently provide counselling both in-person in Kelowna and online anywhere in BC.

When I’m not in the office, I am learning about new approaches to counselling, spending time out in nature, or curled up at home with a book and cup of coffee.

Approach and Philosophy

My approach to counselling is to create a safe, therapeutic space where we can talk about you, your strengths, concerns, past experiences, future hopes and what you need from counselling. Then, together, we will make a plan that feels right for you.

Individual Counselling

I work with individuals with a range of concerns like navigating ADHD, postpartum mental health, anxiety, and more!

When I work with individuals, I integrate approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and/or EMDR. Experience has taught me that everyone comes to counselling with a unique story and my goal is to find an approach that really works for you.

Ultimately, you are the expert on your life. My role is to offer guidance and evidence-based tools to help you…

  • Gain insight into your experiences

  • Develop effective coping strategies

  • Process difficult thoughts, feelings, and events

  • Foster resilience for navigating future challenges

  • Uncover your hopes and dreams so you can cerate a life that feels like yours

Couples Counselling

When I work with couples, the goal is a little bit different. My aim is still to get to know each individual to uncover your experiences, perspective, needs, and hopes for the future, however, ultimately the focus will be on supporting your relationship.

We did not all get the perfect map to having a healthy, loving relationship but that doesn’t mean we can’t ever have one. People change and so can relationships! Counselling can help you learn about your attachment patterns, relationship dynamics, communication challenges, and what you both need to feel safe, respected, and loved. In sessions, we will practice new ways to: communicate so you both feel heard, navigate stressful situations, prioritize your relationship health, and find the joy in your relationship again.

What Sets me Apart

  • Flexible Scheduling: Evening and weekend appointments are available to accommodate busy lives.

  • Convenient Formats: You can choose between in-person sessions in Kelowna, or online therapy accessible throughout British Columbia.

  • Lived Experience: My professional expertise is complemented by my lived experience as a parent who has navigated mental health challenges.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: I have specific experience supporting clients through the complexities of trauma recovery.
